Notes link to each other with [[wiki links]], and each one is an ordinary .md file in a folder you pick. If you ever stop using Deft, there’s nothing to export.

  Markup shows on the line you’re editing and hides everywhere else. Tables, footnotes and math show formatted, with no preview pane.

• Tasks and bookmarks.

  Every unchecked box in your notes, in one panel. A bookmark takes you back to the exact word you stopped on.

Typeset.

Real LaTeX, with your own preamble and packages, and a compiler built in. Already have TeX Live or MiKTeX? Use that instead.

• Source you can read.

  Sections, tables and equations look the way they’ll print. Put the cursor in one to edit it.

• A real PDF.

  Compile with the built-in Tectonic or your own pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX, and read it without leaving Deft.

Sync.

The same folder on every device, encrypted before it leaves yours. Optional, and free during the beta. It’s the only part of Deft that needs an account. See how Sync works.

• Only you can read it.

  File contents and names are encrypted on your device. The server never has the key.

• 30 days of history.

  Bring back an earlier version of a note, or a file you deleted.
