Privacy
Short version: the app doesn't send anything anywhere. This page explains exactly what that means, and the one or two places this website itself is a little different from the app.
The app
Deft is local-first. Your notes are plain Markdown files on your own disk, not in some account you have to sign into. The app has no analytics, no telemetry, and no network calls of its own. Nothing about what you write, or that you're using Deft at all, ever leaves your machine.
This website
usedeft.com is a separate thing from the app, and it does make two small network calls, both easy to avoid if you'd rather not:
Clicking a download link sends a beacon with just the platform name (e.g. "mac") so we can see which builds people actually use. No account, no identifiers, nothing else attached.
If you use the feedback button, your message (and an email address, only if you choose to give one) is sent to us so we can read it. Nothing is sent unless you submit that form yourself.
